ATA was established on 26.11.2007 in Batumi. The founders of ATA are:

-  TCC (Tourism Competence Center)
-  Adjara Tour Ltd.
-  Gemini Ltd.
-  UniTour Ltd.
-  Sea Gate Ltd.

ATA is registered as a non-profit organization.  

During the first year (2008), GTZ (German Technical Assistance organization) was providing the financial support for further development of ATA.
