Official Eurostat figures show that after Spain came Italy, then
Germany, France and the UK. These five countries account for more than
70 percent of nights spent in hotels in the 27 countries of the EU.
This was fairly evenly made up of EU non-residents and residents. The
highest increases were recorded in Slovakia, Poland and Latvia. The
biggest decreases were in Cyprus, Greece and the Netherlands.
